Goddard Space Flight Center Hosts Successful IEM Users Forum
Integrated Enterprise Management (IEM) is only as successful as the team members who use the business applications. To work efficiently, IEM end users require a support network that includes the Agency's IEMP Competency Center in Huntsville working closely with each NASA Center. Each Center has a complimentary supporting structure to address the needs of their specific IEM end user community.
A notable example of this Center IEM support is the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) IEM Users Forum. This Forum was established to bring the GSFC IEM community together on a quarterly basis to review current IEM status, provide a venue for two-way conversation with IEM Center leaders, and to solve problems through smaller group activities.
The second quarterly IEM User Group Forum was held in October 2004 and attracted 150 participants from the end-user community. Attendees networked with their colleagues and received valuable tools, such as the "tips and tricks" that were passed out in each break-out session.
General session topics included an overview of the financial FY04 year-end close with the FY05 financial start-up activities, a demonstration of the IEM i-View internal portal, and an update on the upcoming IEM schedule. Afternoon break-out sessions, facilitated by functional NASA leads, included:
- Budget Execution
- Cost Management
- Purchasing/Bankcard
- Financial Management
- Travel Management
- Full Cost Management
- Business Warehouse for Reporting needs
The continued success of IEM depends on the IEM team and the support that they require to effectively accomplish their jobs. Events such as the GSFC IEM Users Forum are the foundation of a successful team, and the continuation of this event will provide continued communications, training aids, and networking to the IEM team at GSFC.
