SAP Version Update (SVU) and Contract Management Module (CMM) launch!

Cheers could be heard across NASA in November, as the Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s SAP Version Update (SVU) and the Contract Management Module (CMM) successfully launched mid-month. After an Authority to Proceed (ATP) checkpoint in late October the team worked extremely hard to complete all tasks and successfully implemented both projects on November 15th.

With training materials completed and delivered, the projects worked to ensure that all critical users received the necessary training prior to go live. Training for other users will continue throughout December and January.

The SVU Project will implement a set of functional enhancements, improved processes, and a software version update. It will also expand Core Financial functionality to better meet the needs of the project management community, contribute to improvements in NASA’s financial recording and reporting, and improve financial management.

The IEMP Contract Management Module (CMM) provides a comprehensive tool to support contract/grant writing, limited contract/grant administration, procurement workload management, and data reporting/management for NASA. The functionality provided by CMM provides added efficiency to procurement processes, and is integrated with existing IEMP components.

IAM focuses on analysis works

With the completion of the first Core Process Team Workshops this fall, the Integrated Asset Management (IAM) team turned its attention to process analysis work in November.

The IAM Property, Plant and Equipment (PP&E) module received approval to complete project formulation activities. The functionality to be implemented in the PP&E module will focus on the accountability, valuation, and tracking of internal use software, theme assets, and personal property that is either NASA-owned/NASA-held or NASA-owned/contractor-held.

With Agency Process Team workshops continuing through the month, as well as meetings and demos set, IAM is steadily moving forward. The project team is coordinating with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory to determine the feasibility of using their SAP implementation as a model. The DOE system uses standard SAP functionality for creating asset records within the SAP Asset Accounting module. The web-based interface is provided for the general user community to manage property. NASA will use SAP to manage all capital assets and all those controlled assets that qualify for management currently under the NASA Equipment Management System (NEMS) and the NASA Property Disposal Management System (NPDMS).

HCIE Continues to define requirements

The Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s Human Capitol Information Environment (HCIE) is progressing through the project stages. HCIE, which is a partnership between the NASA Office of Human Capital Management (OHCM), Integrated Enterprise Management Program (IEMP), and the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), will deliver an integrated electronic environment of NASA human capital information, consisting of tools and services using innovative tools. Among them: a personnel data warehouse (PDW) that will serve as the authoritative data source for NASA human capital information; modular, new & legacy applications that process the inbound and outbound data, and; a single portal that provides the user interface for employees and managers.

To date, HCIE has been working towards developing Level III & IV requirements which have been submitted to the project’s Steering Committee for review and approval. The team also presented a demonstration of the portal, at Marshall Space Flight Center for the Human Resources Directors’ Conference. Following the Thanksgiving holiday, HCIE held a face to face meeting at Kennedy Space Center to review and discuss Level V requirements. Looking forward, the HCIE team is scheduled to begin work on Level V requirements and continue work on resolving security and interface issues.

i-View turns to technical development in November

The Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s i-View portal team has turned some attention towards the technical aspects of the site this month. During November, the i-View team completed implementation of a staging environment. This will allow Release 7.1, to move forward in light of the CMM and SVU implementations, including the migration of the CMM codes from test to production environment, as well as migration the CMM dashboard administration functionality.

Now, more than 4,000 of NASA’s i-View users, along with anyone just stopping by the portal, can visit the i-View “First Alert” on the i-View Home Page, mentioned in October. Still, the portal continues to thrive as the center point for communication within the IEMP community. Lately, the i-View team was able to build and launch two more myCenter pages, including completed portal information pages for Kennedy Space Center and Ames Research Center.

i-View allows the ease of single sign on access (SSO) to all IEM applications and many other applications employees need to use, such as Employee Express, WebTads, USA Jobs, and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP.) SSO will simplify and reduce, but not totally eliminate, user ID and password management requirements. i-View also provides the means for the IEM Program Office to communicate effectively to all IEM users without relying on email. In the coming months, the i-View team will continue to focus on adding new users and additional functionality. Looking ahead, the team will lend added support to the Contract Management Module Project (CMM), and i-View plans to play host to the SMRT reports which will soon be moved to a production environment.
