eTravel Works Toward Project Re-baseline
The Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s eTravel project enjoyed a quiet December. The project team, while certainly hard working, took the down time to focus on the development of system interfaces between NASA and FedTraveler.com. Project members then worked to communicate project status to all of NASA’s ten centers, and the project’s steering committee.
eTravel expects to release a schedule re-baseline in the early weeks of 2007. The team is also planning to define operations and maintenance procedures for the Web Based Training, training environment and the training manuals.
eTravel is one of the original 24 eGovernment initiatives outlined by President Bush in July of 2001. The effort was designed to make better use of information technology and to eliminate billions of dollars in excessive federal spending, reduce paperwork and improve government response time to citizens. As a result, FedTraveler.com, an integrated application, will be implemented to give NASA online booking, travel authorization, and travel vouchering capabilities.

HCIE keeps sight set on 2007
The Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s Human Capitol Investment Environment (HCIE) slowly moving through preliminary project stages, expects to roll out in 2007. So, with December drawing the year to a close, the HCIE team is currently working to complete Level V requirements.
HCIE, which is a partnership between the NASA Office of Human Capital Management (OHCM), Integrated Enterprise Management Program (IEMP), and the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), will deliver integrated electronic delivery of NASA human capital information, tools and services using some innovative tools. Among them: a personnel data warehouse (PDW) that serves as the authoritative data source for NASA human capital information; Modular, new & legacy applications that process the inbound and outbound data, and; single portal that provides the customer interface.
Next month, the team is scheduled to deliver a portal demonstration which will be conducted at Johnson Space Center. Over the next several months, meetings will be held with authoritative data system owners.

IAM laying framework for a solid project
Feeling the end of the year just around the corner, the Integrated Asset Management (IAM) Project’s continues a steady drum beat towards a green light for Formulation and Blueprinting in the first few months of 2007. This month, however, the team has continued to remain focused process analysis work in October.
Earlier this month, the IAM team reviewed scope, schedule budget and solution design with the Integrated Enterprise Management Program Office. Agency Process Team Workshops continued through the first half o the month, as well. Technical issues were the focus of discussions in Huntsville mid-month. Personnel from the Department of Energy were on hand to share their knowledge on SAP R/3 and eProp solution.
After getting a restart this summer, the Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s Integrated Asset Management (IAM) Project is picking up speed, and gathering some traction this fall. IAM was originally intended to re-engineer NASA’s asset management capabilities within four cross-functional business processes: Planning, Acquisition, Maintenance, and Disposition before the project was delayed indefinitely in 2005. Now, the Integrated Asset Management (IAM) Property, Plant and Equipment (PP&E) module has achieved approval on its Formulation Authorization Document. Marshall Space Flight Center Program Management Council has also blessed the document, allowing the project to move into its full formulation stage. Concurrently, the IAM Property, Plant and Equipment (PP&E) module is working to finalize the project schedule through Formulation and Blueprinting phases.
The functionality to be implemented in the PP&E module will focus on the accountability, valuation, and tracking of internal use software, theme assets, and personal property that is either NASA-owned/NASA-held or NASA-owned/contractor-held.
The project team plans to use the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory version of SAP PP&E implementation as a model for processes and configuration. The DOE system uses standard SAP functionality for creating asset records within the SAP Asset Accounting module. These components are part of either SAP R/3 or the SAP web application. Custom transactions within SAP R/3 are provided for the property management team to perform its functions. The web-based interface is provided for the general user community to manage property. NASA will use SAP to manage all capital assets and all those controlled assets that qualify for management currently under the NASA Equipment Management System (NEMS) and the NASA Property Disposal Management System (NPDMS).

December sees stabilization and training for SVU
The last month of the calendar year has seen the SVU Project team working toward stabilization of the new product. The Integrated Enterprise Management Program’s SAP Version Update and the Contract Management Module both successfully launched mid-November.
Despite the successful launch, and the team’s focus primarily towards stabilization, training has not been neglected. Currently, deployment has progressed well. Phase 1 of SVU training wrapped up at all of NASA’s Centers during the first half of December. Right now, centers are carefully moving into Phase 2 training status, which is expected to run through the first few months of 2007.
The SVU Project Team has target dates for Stabilization Support through the end of January, which also holds as a target date for the completion of end user training.
SAP Version Update (SVU) provides the Agency’s Mission Directorates and Mission Support Areas with financial and acquisition information and tools that help enable effective program planning and decision-making. The SVU Project will implement a set of functional enhancements, improved processes, and a software version update. The software update will also expand Core Financial functionality to better meet the needs of the project management community, contribute to improvements in NASA’s financial recording and reporting, and improve financial management.

i-View continues to reach out, unite IEMP users
This season, the Integrated Management Enterprise Program’s (IEMP) i-View portal team has continued to achieve their goal of uniting the NASA community in one virtual location in an online portal. Among their most recent efforts, the team provided new document management for configuration controlled documents and added an i-View Contract Management Module (CMM) page.
ePayroll was updated with a fresh new production systems menu. This should allow some additional ease for users’ experiences on i-View. The NASA news service error and as search error were both resolved.
This month, the i-View team recently created and published “myCenter” webpages for Kennedy Space Center and Ames Research Center. Many of the NASA Centers continue to utilize their center page as one way to link communication efforts through i-View.
i-View provides single sign on (SSO) to all IEM applications and many other applications employees need to access, such as Employee Express, WebTads, USA Jobs, and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP.) SSO will simplify and reduce, but not totally eliminate, user ID and password management requirements. i-View also provides the means for the IEM Program Office to communicate effectively to all IEM users without relying on email. In the coming months, the i-View team will continue to focus on adding new users and additional functionality.
The i-View team also continues to support project development. Most recently, the team demonstrated their commitment to such an important effort with a newly developed poll for eTravel.
More than 4,000 users are accessing i-View on a regular basis and the site is accessible at all ten NASA Centers. The portal allows for easier access to all IEM applications and information so that NASA employees can do their jobs more efficiently. i-View plans an upgrade for March of 2006.
